The Nevada Teacher Academy College Pathway Program (TACPP) provides high school students with an opportunity to explore the teaching profession, get a head start on college, gain real-world experience, and begin building a pathway toward becoming a licensed Nevada educator.
Established through Assembly Bill 462 (2025), TACPP is part of Nevada’s commitment to developing the next generation of educators. The program connects high school coursework and Work-Based Learning with postsecondary education and future careers, creating a pathway that can begin before a student graduates from high school.

TACPP allows students to explore education through Teaching and Training coursework, education dual-credit opportunities, and Work-Based Learning experiences. Students can experience what happens in educational settings while developing valuable skills in leadership, communication, collaboration, professionalism, and problem-solving.
These experiences can help students make more informed decisions about college and their future careers.
Students can complete the high school portion of TACPP through one of two pathways:
Students complete Teaching and Training I and II along with at least 15 hours of qualifying Work-Based Learning.
Students complete 12 qualifying education dual credits along with at least 15 hours of qualifying Work-Based Learning.
Students should work with their school counselor to determine which pathway best fits their academic plan, interests, and future goals.
TACPP helps connect a student’s high school experience with what comes next.
Students participating in qualifying dual-credit coursework can begin earning college credit while still in high school. Starting early can help students prepare for the transition to college and may reduce the amount of coursework they need to complete after graduation.
TACPP also introduces students to Nevada’s higher education opportunities and helps them understand the steps required to continue into an educator preparation program.

TACPP students complete at least 15 hours of Work-Based Learning, providing opportunities to connect what they learn in class with authentic educational experiences.
Students can gain greater insight into the teaching profession, interact with educators and students, and begin developing the confidence and professional skills needed for college and a future career.
For students who decide teaching is right for them, TACPP provides an early foundation for the journey ahead.
After high school, students can continue their education through a college or university educator preparation program, complete degree and student-teaching requirements, and work toward obtaining a Nevada teaching license.
The goal is simple: help Nevada students see themselves as future Nevada educators and provide them with a pathway to get there.
