TACPP Student Success Stories

Maya — “TACPP Helped Me Discover That Teaching Is for Me.”

“I always liked helping other students, but I never really thought about becoming a teacher. TACPP gave me the opportunity to explore education while I was still in high school instead of waiting until college to figure out what I wanted to do.

Through my classes and Work-Based Learning experience, I was able to see what teaching is really like. I learned that being a teacher is about much more than standing in front of a classroom. Teachers are mentors, leaders, problem-solvers, and people who can make a real difference in a student’s life.

TACPP helped me discover a career that fits who I am. Now, when I think about college, I’m not just thinking about getting a degree—I know what I’m working toward.”

Carlos — “I’m Starting College Ahead of the Game.”

“One of the things that interested my family and me most about TACPP was the opportunity to earn college credit while I was still in high school. College can be expensive, so being able to get started early made a lot of sense.

My counselor helped me understand how my TACPP courses could fit into my high school schedule and how education-related dual-credit opportunities could help me prepare for college. Instead of graduating and starting completely from scratch, I can begin college already understanding the pathway I want to follow.

For me, TACPP isn’t just about becoming a teacher someday. It’s about having a plan. I’m getting a head start now so I can reach my goal sooner.”

Jordan — “I Have a Path From High School to My Career.”

“Before TACPP, college seemed like a lot of separate decisions—where to go, what to major in, how to become licensed, and what happens after graduation. TACPP helped me see how those pieces connect.

Now I can see the whole pathway: high school, college, an education degree, student teaching, a Nevada teaching license, and eventually my own classroom. Knowing the steps makes my goal feel achievable.

I also like knowing that there are Nevada colleges and universities where I can continue my education. I want to build my future here and eventually teach in the same community that helped me succeed.”

Alexis — “I Want to Come Back and Make a Difference.”

“There have been teachers in my life who believed in me when I needed it most. TACPP made me realize that someday I could be that person for another student.

The program gives me the chance to begin preparing for that future now. I’m developing communication and leadership skills, gaining experience in educational settings, and learning what it takes to become a licensed Nevada teacher.

My goal is to go to college, earn my degree, become licensed, and come back to Nevada schools as a teacher. I want students to see someone in their classroom who understands them, encourages them, and expects them to succeed.

TACPP is helping me turn that goal into a plan.”
